
Based in Los Angeles and Orange County, CA, Houston Nguyen is an up-and-coming jazz guitarist who regularly performs throughout Southern California. Drawing inspiration from Sonny Rollins, Billy Strayhorn, and Wayne Shorter, as well as guitarists like Mike Moreno, Jonathan Kreisberg, and Kurt Rosenwinkel, he seeks to establish a unique voice on the guitar.
He is currently in his second year at the USC Thornton School of Music, pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Jazz Performance. During his studies, he has had the opportunity to study privately with and be taught by musicians such as Gerald Clayton, Katie Thiroux, Bruce Forman, Alex Hahn, Joey Sellers, and Ron Stout. He holds an Associate’s degree in Music from Saddleback College and transferred to USC in 2024.
